There are some travel experiences that truly live up to the hype, and spending a day on the Great Barrier Reef is at the very top of that list. For our group, the highlight was our day with Reef Magic at their exclusive Marine World platform.
What makes this experience so special is the accessibility. Whether you’re a seasoned snorkeler or prefer to stay dry, the reef is right at your fingertips. We spent our hours drifting over vibrant coral gardens teeming with "Nemos" and parrotfish. For those who didn't want to suit up, the underwater observatory and semi-submersible tours offered a front-row seat to the Great Barrier Reef's incredible biodiversity. Seeing the scale of the reef from the platform is a powerful reminder of why protecting this natural wonder is so vital. It was, quite simply, a magical day in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
After a day at the reef we traded the turquoise waters of the coast for the emerald canopy of the world’s oldest living rainforest. Our journey to the "Village in the Rainforest," Kuranda, was an adventure in itself.
We started with a ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, winding through hand-cut tunnels and passing spectacular waterfalls. Once in Kuranda, we immersed ourselves in the Rainforestation Nature Park. A major highlight was our time at the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, where we learned about the rich history of the local culture, watched traditional dances, and even tried our hand at boomerang throwing!
To cap off the day, we glided over the treetops on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Looking down over the dense canopy and out toward the Coral Sea provided a perspective you just can't get from the ground. Between the historic rail and the modern Skyrail, it was a full day of incredible views and deep cultural connection.
Our Guide Lewis was fantastic. We learned a lot about the aboriginal people and their traditions. Didgeridoo demonstration by Lewis. The paint on his chest is his name which is given by grandparents
Did you know that a boomerang is not a weapon but is used in hunting?
