We're going to Egypt!

It's true - we're planning a trip to Egypt in 2022.  We will be going with AmaWaterways in late March.  And, we have special pricing so you can even join us!  All the details are here, but this blog will review the highlights.

Highlights of the Trip

We will be in Cairo for three nights at the Four Seasons Hotel.  During our time in Cairo, we'll visit the Egyptian Museum (think King Tut), a famous marketplace and mosque, visit the pyramids, Great Sphinx and the ancient city of Memphis. Breakfast, lunches and all the guided tours are included.

Next we take a short flight to Luxor where we board the all new AmaDahlia.  We'll spend 7 fantastic nights sailing down and back to Aswan. Along the way we'll explore Luxor's grand temples, the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens (think Nefertari's Tomb), lots of temples and museums in Edfu and Aswan and trace history from 2500 BC to the Greco-Roman periods.  Highlights include the Temple of Karnak, the Hypostyle Hall, the Great temple of Abydos.    A short excursion to Abu-Sim is also bound to be a highlight. This is a 3000 year old temple is dedicated to Ramses II and Queen Nefertari.

While on the river, the typical AmaWaterways inclusions apply:  all meals, tours and luxury services.  Lots of fun touring but lots of comfort and great food while back on the ship.

The Ship

The AmaDahia is purpose built for the Nile and will be sailing for the first time in 2021.   It holds only 68 passengers and includes lots of suites.  It even has a heated pool.  And of course there's a Chef's Table alternative restaurant.   The design of the ship is consistent with Ama's other new ships in terms of style, luxury and amenities provided.  If you've traveled with AmaWaterways before, you'll feel right at home.  New to river cruising?  There's no easier way to travel:  no packing and unpacking at each stop and everything is taken care for you.

Why  do Egypt with a river cruise company?

Lots of reasons.  First and foremost, we trust that AmaWaterways will take care of us. That includes security but also they make sure Ramseswe see the highlights without wasting time at tourist traps.  We also can be sure that we have a fully immersive experience but one that includes luxury for a reasonable price.  Luxury, great food, safety, comfort, great tours and great service.  What better way to do Egypt?

When in Rome....

Well, we're not in Rome but as long as you're in the Middle East, why to extend your trip?  AmaWaterways offers extensions in Jordan, Israel and Dubai.  These are fully escorted with AmaWaterways personnel and include first class hotels, transfers and tours.  Of course there's lots of other ways we can help you explore to extend your stay.

Travel with a travel agent

We're excited about going to Egypt.  We already have a great group of people going with us which means we qualify as a group.  Why do you care?  Because we get special pricing.  Prices start at about $5500 per person for the 11 night river cruise (excludes extensions).  To reserve you only need a $600 per person deposit of which $200 is immediately non refundable.  Your cost would be lower if you have loyalty discounts, Future cruise benefit discounts or Future cruise credit certificates.

We can give you advice on different cabin categories, explain more about daily life, discuss air flight options as well as insurance.  And of course answer any questions you might have.  And if these particular dates don't work for you, we can give you lots of other suggestions.  We look forward to hearing from you.  Remember, all the details are right here on our website.
